As recognized by many other reviews, the hotel is in perfect location and rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is professional and friendly. At first assessment, this is an ideal location. But unfortunately, guests are not informed that the restaurant on first floor converts to EDM NIGHT CLUB around 9pm. The music is loud and disruptive but it's the BASE that resonates throughout the building relentlessly pulsating thus allowing NO SLEEP. If you value your slumber DO NOT STAY HERE especially on a weekend! When I called the front desk at 11 pm I was told the noise was coming from the street. When I called again at midnight I was told "strange, your room in on 4th floor we are surprised you hear it?" Not only did I hear it, but I FEEL it. Leadership of this location clearly prioritizes the revenue they earn from the nightclub OVER their guest comfort and ability to sleep. To many great alternatives close by! Sorry but this is the simple truth. Gives me no joy to write this review as the property is other wize great.

There were many good things about the hotel and there were no problems during my stay, nor was I unhappy to have been there. My review is simply to provide objective feedback for the management and information for future travelers. So here goes. First everyone we met on staff was helpful and polite. Good people are essential and this location had that. Next the location is perfect. You are walking distance (a few blocks) from the train station and more places to eat than you can count. The room was clean, and modern. However this is an older building. Air conditioning is either on for the entire building, or off for the entire building. In other words no individual room control if you want a cooler room during heating season. Your only option was to open a window (our room did have a slick operable window). Hot water for showers - plenty of it. Bathroom was nice and modern. The chairs supplied in our room - uncomfortable (I’m sure they register high on an interior designers checklist- but they are low on functionality). Bed was on lower end of comfort with bedding that almost covers the bed enough. My only other comment were the added costs -the daily city tax fee (not the hotel’s fault but it does add up), added charge for hotel supplied bottled water, and the price for breakfast buffet of 35.00 francs per person.

The Rooms are clean, very small lobby, prime location, walking distance to the old city, near the bus stop to Mount Pilatus, near the train station, In the heart of the city, shopping centers. So it is a nice practical hotel for a small vacation in Lucern

A Cautionary Tale

My recent stay at a Renaissance hotel Lucerne offered a mix of positive experiences marred by a distressing incident that has led me to share this review. Firstly, I want to acknowledge that the hotel itself provides good value for the price, situated in an excellent location. The check-in process was notably pleasant, thanks to a very friendly and helpful staff member. Such hospitality reinforces my loyalty to Marriott, where I’ve been a proud member for over 20 years, achieving Platinum status for life. However, a significant oversight occurred during our stay which I feel is important to share. Upon our arrival, we were informed that only one of our two rooms was ready. Subsequently, my wife, ensuring the safety of her valuables, secured her rings and watch in the room safe. Unfortunately, in the hustle of relocating to our second room later that evening, these items were inadvertently left behind. This realization dawned on us a day and a half later while at our ski hotel, and there is no doubt in our minds that these items were left in the safe; it was a moment observed by our two children and myself. Upon contacting the hotel, we were informed that the safe was empty and that it is standard protocol for the cleaning staff to open and inspect locked safes after guests’ departure. This was news to me, and it has led to a very unfortunate situation where we must consider the possibility that the items were taken without being reported. I want to clarify that this review is not intended as a malicious accusation. My loyalty to Marriott remains strong, but I feel it is crucial to share this experience to serve as a lesson to others. In response, I plan to file a police report upon my return to the town. This incident has led to a resolve that my wife and I will no longer bring valuable jewelry on our trips, nor will we use hotel safes in the future. It is also disheartening to report that attempts to discuss this matter with the hotel manager were unsuccessful; I was told he was too busy to speak with me. While this review cannot rectify the loss of my wife’s jewelry and watch, my hope is that it will educate others on the precautions necessary when entrusting valuables to hotel safes. The overall experience has slightly dented my confidence in what has been many years of trust and satisfaction with Marriott.

This is my home away from home when I travel to Lucerne for business. Walking distance from, well everything, they cater to Americans (the Times at breakfast, American music, staff speak perfect English, etc.) It even has an ice machine and a gym, which is an everyday thing in the states but not in Switzerland. The cappuccino at breakfast is the best I have ever had. Just 2 blocks from the train and great restaurants. The only reason I would not stay here is if they are sold out.
